ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — A sheriff's deputy accidentally shot a woman in the thigh during a drug raid in St. Petersburg.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said 43-year-old Brenda McKay was shot in the right inner thigh by a deputy who burst into a house during the raid Wednesday morning.

McKay was lying on a couch in the living room when she was hit by the bullet fired from a .45-caliber Glock handgun. She was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK.

The deputy was not identified because he was working undercover. He was placed on paid leave while the shooting is investigated.

Things do not go perfectly. Surgeons operate everyday, they make mistakes, it's called negligence. Negligence is not intentional, we are all human. We are all God's children - do unto others as you would want done unto you if you were in the same situation. This officer does not deserve some of these negative comments. Shame on you.

How can a deputy with a drawn gun "accidently" shoot anyone? Think about it folks, the reason he had the gun drawn was to shoot someone, otherwise the gun would have been in his gun holster!
