ATLANTA (AP) -- Police say a 4-year-old boy who was hit by a
train in northwest Atlanta has been upgraded from critical to
stable condition.
Atlanta Police Officer James Polite said Elijah Anderson ran out
of his yard while chasing after his dog Thursday evening and was
struck.
The CSX train engineer saw the boy and tried to stop, but was
unable to in time. The locomotive was traveling about 30 mph when
the crash occurred around 5 p.m.
Polite said the boy was thrown away from the tracks by the
impact. He was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at
Egleston.
