CHIPLEY, FL 2/8/2012 -- After years of delays and months of tabled discussions, the controversial Rhythm Development in Washington County is finally moving forward.
"We're a long way from being finished, but this is a critical point," said Rhythm Developer J. Scott Henderson.
The county's Planning Board held a public hearing Tuesday night and voted to recommend that county commissioners approve the community.
Henderson was once again in the audience, and said he's happy to see some movement on the issue.
"It's very significant. We've worked very hard with this over the last four years," said Henderson.
But the vote didn't sit well with everyone.
"I truly believe it's the wrong location for such a project," said one Washington County resident.
"Use your good common sense. Do not be fooled by the Rhythm sales pitch," said another resident.
But the Development Board said it had to go by the book and vote for approval, saying Henderson's plans are in compliance with the law.
"It was a very tough decision. Our decision for approval was based on consistency and compliance both with our comprehensive plan and our land development code," said Planning Board Chairman Tonya Pippin.
Washington County commissioners will have the final say on the issue. They're expected to vote on it during their next regularly scheduled meeting February 16th.

I I believe the Rhythm progent will be very good for Washington Co.THE SENIORS WILL HAVE A NICE Safe pLACE to Live and jobs,Jobs are badly needed here so men can feed their Famlies with out Food Stamps.
Once again, a developer gets to ruin a beautiful bit of nature. Money definitely talks. This is a huge mistake. How I wish that its opponents would prevail, but they won't. Just like in Leon County, it's just a matter of time, and crossing the right palms with lots of silver. This is nothing more than legal prostitution. :'-(
