The Knights of Columbus is instituting a new program to venerate the National Flag on Flag Day nation-wide. 2011 has been designated a "pilot" year for the program, and California, New Jersey and Florida have been selected to participate in the program on its inaugural year. The program will expand nation-wide in 2012. All Tallahasseeans and visitors are invited to participate in this event.
The Florida District Knights will host a brief ceremony to honor our national flag and the pledge of allegiance on Flag Day, Tuesday, June 14, 2011. The ceremony will begin at noon on the Monroe St. side of the Old Capitol, with a color guard presenting the colors, followed by a brief narrative on the pledge of allegiance, at the conclusion of which all participants and guests will be invited to share in reciting the pledge of allegiance.
The colors will then be retired, and the ceremony will conclude. It is expected that the ceremony will last about 20 minutes.
