Driving back from Best Buy I wanted to grab a quick lunch and noticed Zacadoo’s Grille. The restaurant is located on Apalachee Parkway next to the La Quinta Inn. A small tower rises towards the front of the building and is topped by a large black and red sign. Palm trees and nice landscaping encircled the building that was edge with a red tile roof and sage green accents.
Zacadoo’s looks like something designed by the Borg from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Eating in is not an option, and the building is devoid of any exterior windows. Two tan colored doors blend into the exterior and I noticed a small peephole in the middle of one. I assume it is used to spy on any solicitors while maintaining a secure environment.
Undeterred by the building’s odd exterior I proceeded to the back. Twin drive-thrus are provided for customers and I chose the one to the right that was unoccupied. Glancing at the menu I noticed they served breakfast, and offered a variety of lunch/dinner options including steak burgers, hot dogs and chicken tenders. I decided to order the steak burger combo with a coke.
The voice on the other end of the speaker was courteous, told me my total, and asked me to pull around to the window. Service was quick and after a couple of minute wait behind two other cars my order was handed to me in a plain paper bag. Following a quick slide of my debit card I was on my way.
I stuck my hand in the sack and pulled out a French fry. They were of the thin crinkle cut variety and were a deep golden brown. I took a bite. The fry was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. As I worked my way through the rest of the container my only complaint was that they were excessively salted. As for the burger, it consisted of a single patty on a sesame seed roll with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and a slice of yellow American cheese. It was hot, fresh, and better than the majority of fast food burgers.
Overall, Zacadoo’s was good. The food was fresh and the service was quick and friendly. Sometimes the only option is fast food, and it was nice being able to hit a local business rather than one of the national franchises. If you’re on Apalachee Parkway, and have a craving for a quick meal, Zacadoo’s is a decent option.
