Posted: 10:19 AM Due to a morning appointment I found myself on the East Side of Tallahassee in need of some breakfast. I decided to check out Catalina Cafe. It is located in a plaza on Capital Circle SE across the street from Sonny's and Sam's Club.
Posted: 9:22 AM I approached the shaded patio located on the backside of a building that faced Colonial Drive. Wisp of blue gray smoke curled above several lounging men who smoked cigarettes. I asked if they knew where Nha Trang was located. They shook their heads and indicated they did not speak English.
Posted: 10:50 AM My mother-in-law agreed to watch little man and honey badger, and this meant Becky and I had a night to ourselves! We decided to go out for a grow-up dinner at a place where the menu was devoid of pictures.
Posted: 1:25 PM Until about a year ago my experience with pho consisted of watching Anthony Bourdain slurp a bowl full of beef part-filled broth on the Travel Channel. It looked delicious, and I tried to make some myself. The results were mediocre at best.
Posted: 9:32 AM Outside sat two round tables with black umbrellas. A small corrogated roof sheltered the door. The exterior was clad in red brick. Near the top of the building a colorful sign proclaimed the structure as the home of Yobe Frozen Yogurt.
Posted: 1:05 PM Siam Bistro, the sister restaurant to Siam Sushi, is located on on Thomasville Road between the Goodwill Store and Market Square Liquors.
Posted: 10:19 AM JL's may may not win any awards for decor, or spotless facilities. However, they do make a good chopped pork sandwich and serve it with a smile.
Updated: 9:45 AM In Tallahassee, Mozaik is a restaurant that advertises itself as "never the same, always amazing!"
Posted: 9:56 AM A large purple and green sign adorned with a sumo wrestler announced Sumo Sabi's presence. I was unsure what to expect as I passed an employee washing the reflective silver windows that lined the restaurant's front.
Posted: 10:34 AM Mr. Roboto has received a considerable amount of buzz and is billed as Tallahassee's number one "cheap eats" restaurant. I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype.

Updated: 10:11 AM A couple months back blog reader invited me out to lunch at one of his favorite places, Sahara Greek & Lebanese Cafe. This week I finally took him up on the offer and we decided to meet for lunch.
Posted: 9:22 AM Sometimes you just want a plate of fried chicken, peas and greens. When this craving hits, I head up U.S. 19 to Thomasville, Georgia, and make a bee line to O’Neals County Buffet.
Posted: 10:42 AM The Brick House Eatery sits on the corner of Dogwood and Jefferson (U.S. 19 N) Streets in downtown Monticello. It is the second restaurant with this name to occupy the location.
Posted: 1:50 PM This afternoon I decided to try Chipotle, a restaurant favored by @KilroyFSU and @saintwarrick, two guys I follow on Twitter. Chipotle is located on Apalachee Parkway in the same plaza that houses Best Buy, Office Depot and World Market.
Posted: 1:45 PM My second stop on the Chain Restaurant Burrito Trilogy took me to Moe’s Southwest Grill on Thomasville Road. It is located in the same shopping plaza that houses Hobby Lobby, Bonefish Grill and Kiku.
Posted: 1:41 PM For the past couple of weeks my office has been raving about Newk’s Express Cafe. Whenever I told anyone I was running out to grab some lunch I was immediately asked if I was going to Newk’s. This afternoon I decided to see what they were fussing about and made the short drive down Thomasville Road.
Posted: 1:38 PM Neat in appearance if not spectacular, it serves its purposed to notify prospective diners of the location of one of Tallahassee’s most family friendly casual restaurants.
Posted: 10:58 AM Despite the fact it faces Timberland Road Morelia’s new official residence carries a Market Street address. This can be a bit confusing as it is located in the back corner of the same shopping plaza that houses Tasty Pastry and Mike’s Jersey Subs. Geographical oddities aside, Morelia’s new home feels more upscale than its earlier digs on Thomasville Road near Steinmart.
Posted: 10:45 AM Capt. Pete’s is conveniently located on Capital Circle NE across from the prison. In front of the restaurant were three pieces of wicker furniture painted lime green. A sign next to the door indicated it was opened Monday through Saturday from 11 – 2 p.m. As I opened the door my friend Joe said those were great hours to work if you could get them.
Posted: 10:33 AM Food Glorious Food is located at in a small plaza at the intersection of Thomasville and East Bradford Roads. The restaurant offers not one, not two, but three distinct dining areas. The first is the courtyard located behind a wrought iron fence in the shadow of a large live oak tree. The second is a brightly colored cafe located adjacent to the courtyard. The third is a slick modern dining room with a view of the kitchen located a short walk past the Strauss Gallery and down a set of stairs.
Posted: 10:26 AM Hurricane Grill & Wings landed in Tallahassee and held its grand opening today. The restaurant is part of a chain located in 7 states with the majority of its locations in Florida. My friend and I lured in by the promise of specials decided to check it out for lunch.
Posted: 9:29 AM There is a soft spot in my heart for dives that serve good, honest, bar food. While at Florida State University one of my favorite spots was Posey’s in St. Marks. It was a dilapidated building with ceilings covered in dollar bills, troughs instead of toilets, and delicious hot wings served at a bar staffed by a local with a ridiculous breast augmentation. Sadly, it was destroyed in a biblical sort of way by storm surge during a hurricane.
