Carla's Poppy Seed Loafs with Lemon Glaze

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  • 3 Cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 ¼ cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon almond extract
  • 1 ½ tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 Tablespoon melted butter
  • Grease and flour 2 medium loaf pans
  • Combine all bread ingredients and pour into the pans
  • Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour

    Glaze:

  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • ¾ cup to 1 cup confectionary sugar
  • lemon zest

    Combine glaze ingredients. Add more confectionary sugar till it is not watery but still able to drip over the top of the loafs

    While still hot, remove from pans, Prick hot bread with fork. Pour on glaze.
