Chamber Chat with Kimberly Moore of Wakulla County. The county has just unveiled a new website www.wakullacountychamber.com

Talk to us about the new website and the other great things you guys have going on.

Moore: There are so many exciting things going on for us at the chamber despite the recession and economic downturn. We have seen an increase. There are not a lot of groups that can tout that. We have increased our focus on membership benefits and values and have brought lots of resources to our local community and business community and it stood out.

How were you able to do it with the economy and the oil spill?

Our focus has extended to the business community and the community in general. A lot of events we have put on like the food drive and our Florida housing event. We looked at helping individuals who were facing foreclosures and reaching out to the community and saying, the Chamber isn't just for business, but for the community.

What does it say that when things are down, people are still helping?

We bond together with everything the Wakulla community brings to the table. We care about you and we are our brothers keeper. If you are in need, getting help and getting the word out.

2010 is almost done, are you looking ahead to 2011?

Unfortunately, it's a volunteer position in the President spot so I will be turning over the reigns. Coming in will be John Shuff. We have been very diligent this year and I think it'll span over to 2011.

Any big plans to go out with a bang in 2010?

This whole year has been a bang. We changed our whole marketing strategy. We never created a television commercial and we did. We have radio spots that highlight our success and the launch of our websites and radio prove that we have done everything we wanted to do.
