Ed Pilcher has yet to match the level of success he reached while at Thomas County Central, but greatness isn't born overnight. In two seasons at Bainbridge, the Bearcats have had back to back 6 win campaigns, among the lowest in his 24 year coaching career. Year 25 will have its own set of challenges.

Coach Pilcher says, "We're looking for two running backs. We've got good competition at the quarterback position. We've got competition at the wide receiver position. In the offensive line, we don't have but one returning starter, so we're going to have a lot of new faces up there too."

With so many players fighting for positions, there's never a dull moment at spring practice, which the Bearcats see as an advantage.

Rising Senior QB Rohan Gaines says, "We've got people getting more intense. People getting after it. Seniors stepping up and being leaders."

Pilcher adds, "No doubt about that, you know the one thing we've done, our guys will practice. They'll go stroke each other pretty good. A lot more kids busting their tail trying to earn a spot, and that's the way you want it to be. That's the reason why I think it's been a great spring. People have been so competitive, people trying to earn a spot. Does that translate into more wins? I don't know. I hope so!"

So does the rest of the Bearcat community eager for success. In the last 20 years, only three times has Bainbridge surpassed the 6 win mark.
