Half a century ago, Florida State made repeated bids to join the Southeastern Conference, ones that were never accepted. Now, as the Big 10 expansion debate heats up, talks of SEC expansion has as well, once again bringing FSU and others into the conversation. But with the Noles and back up choice Georgia Tech firmly established in the ACC, is a conference jump as appealing now as it once may have been?

FSU Head Football Coach Jimbo Fisher says, "I think you always have to keep your options open. We're happy in the ACC and doing things, but you know, as people move, you can't sit here and say 'well if this guy does this and this guy does this,' you can't answer that question yet, but it's something you have to consider, and think about, and do the best move for Florida State."

Georgia Tech Head Coach Paul Johnson says, "We're very happy to be in the ACC and where we are. Depending on what happens, you always sit back and see what's best for your school, but right now we don't have any plans to be anywhere but the ACC."

With the SEC's proven track record, storied programs, and lucrative TV contracts, coaches in the conference can see why expansion might be beneficial for some programs.

Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban says, "I think that's what other people are trying to get to. But I think if some leagues break up, because of expansion, which nobody knows really what's going to happen, that maybe could benefit the SEC, about doing something in the future."
