The World Cup is just days away, but already soccer fever has hit at Florida State. The first Mark Krikorian soccer camp of the summer kicked off Monday morning, providing kids some personalized training from the Seminole staff and players..
Krikorian says, "It's absolutely vital. We need to continue to work with these young kids in the community and give them a lot of touches on the ball and some good instruction and give them an opportunity to get out and have some fun and just enjoy the game."
Kids as young as six are lacing up the cleats this week. Coach Krikorian believes the earlier they can get their foot on a ball, the better chances for success they'll have as they continue their soccer development.
He adds, "The more that a young player becomes comfortable with the ball, the greater upside that they have. So at this age, we're working a lot on individual ball control, dribbling the ball, cutting the ball, moving with the ball, escaping pressure. A lot of different individual technical activities."
Camps continue throughout the summer, as Krikorian and the Seminoles look to develop the next generation of Florida State soccer players.
