"He goes down swinging, and Florida State is going to Omaha!"
Those words are not new to the FSU baseball team, who with their win Sunday over Vanderbilt advanced to their 20th College World Series! Head Coach Mike Martin says they sound just as sweet this time around...
Martin says, "No question this one is just as special as the others, because of what this team has overcome thus far. To do what they did in getting whipped at Clemson, and getting whipped the first game of the ACC tournament, to come back and win the tournament, and win a regional in Connecticut. I'll never forget it."
Coach Martin says playing in the final year at Rosenblatt Stadium will be an experience his players will never forget either!
He adds, "A city of close to 850,000 stops for two weeks. Packed houses, enthusiastic people. Salt of the earth people. You're in the heartland baby!"
History shows it'll a tough road ahead as the Garnet and Gold embark on another College World Series adventure, but Coach Martin says expect the same brand of baseball that got them there.
He says, "We're going to get after it and play our hearts out. The only thing we're going to do differently, is we're going to eat a better steak at a better restaurant than we did the last time we were out there two years ago."
