I'm Tim Nolan and we're here at the Florida State baseball camp and what we're working on here is speed and strength. What we got here is the pro cut hitting system in where we have weights that go on he knob of the bat along with weights that go on the handle of the bat. What this does is it reinforces the hands to stay inside the ball allowing the hitter to reinforce the fundamental swing along with now they are able to hit the ball.
Now what we're going to do is go from the weighted bat now back down to their bat and then they get to feel that speed and strength and power in their swing.
Now this is what we call a rapid fire drill where we're working on speed and strength. When the ball pops up, you hit it.
Now this is called cross training and if you're a right handed hitter you always swing the bat this way and your muscles are always exploding and extending and getting stronger and faster this way. Well cross training is if you swung left handed, now you're exploding the muscles on he other side of your body to strengthen those so now when you go back to right handed you're going to be even stronger and this is a drill that we use to do that.
And that's how you do it! Whoo!
