A blown defensive assignment with seven seconds left. A whistle that was never enforced. Three points is all that separated FSU basketball from advancing one round further in the NCAA tournaments.

"We thought we had every possibility covered. The clock was running down and one of their players broke free and obviously finished the basket. There lies a one point loss," said FSU men's head basketball coach Leonard Hamilton.

FSU women's head basketball coach Sue Semrau adds,
"It was difficult because you hate for any game to end on an official's error when the championship, national championship tournament is about student athletes."

Over the season FSU basketball, men and women, proved again this year that each are national threats. Under Leonard Hamilton, FSU broke an eighteen year drought of reaching the Sweet Sixteen, and Sue Semrau, once again, finished the season with over twenty wins and in the top three of the ACC.

Coach Semrau adds, "I think it was another season of extreme growth. I think that losing three starters from last years team and being able to have the type of year we did it was exciting. I think our team really feels like now that anything less than a sweet sixteen is a disappointment."
