Tallahassee, FL -- Mike Bell is back in a Seminole uniform.

"Not a whole lot has changed but it's what I want to remember. It's home.," says new FSU pitching coach Mike Bell. "I'm Florida State through and through. Garnet and gold is what I bleed."

Bell played for the Seminoles in 1994 and '95 where he had a 14-4 record with a 3.00 ERA. After six seasons in the minors he turned his attention to coaching, spending time at Florida Southern, Tennessee and Oklahoma. While at Oklahoma he helped the Sooners get back to the College World Series in 2010 with two first round draft pick pitchers.

Bell adds, "It's been a whirl wind journey. Going through the SEC at Tennessee for three years and competing in Omaha in '05 and then going out to the midwest with the University of Oklahoma, something in the Big 12 with the likes of Texas A&M and Texas. It's kind of molded me into who I am now."

He'll bring the same mentality that has shaped those programs to Tallahassee to help FSU get to championship form.

Bell adds, "If you have the best pitching on the mound or the best defense you're going to compete and stay in the game. If you got the offense you have a chance to run away with it. There's no doubt we've got that. It's about getting back to pitching, defense and winning championships."

He know what it takes to reach that level. In the two seasons he played for FSU, the 'Noles were college world series teams.

Bell adds, "There's nothing better than a championship Sunday or championship Monday when they're dog piling. Knowing that you're going to pack your bags and go to Omaha. It's about getting to TD Ameritrade now."

I pose an open question to WCTV: Why has the network gone out of its way to avoid any mention of Jamey Shouppe?
