DOUGLAS, Ga. (February 17, 2012) - Nolan Thomas improved to 4-0 and Hayden Jordan notched his third save as FCSAA No. 3 Tallahassee Community College (9-3) defeated South Georgia College, 2-1, on Friday afternoon in a game that took just over two hours.
The win gave Tallahassee a sweep of the season's home-and-home series with the Tigers. Tallahassee defeated South Georgia, 9-2, at Eagle Field on January 31.
Tallahassee got on the board in the first when Anthony Torres scored from third base on a wild pitch. Steven Brown hit a solo home run in the fifth to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
That was just enough for Thomas, who won for the fourth time in as many starts. South Georgia cut Tallahassee's lead in half with a run in the sixth, but that was all the Tigers could muster against the southpaw.
Thomas allowed only five hits and struck out five before giving way to Jordan with two outs in the seventh.
Jordanm, who allowed two hits and struck out four, recorded the final seven outs to preserve Tallahassee's fourth straight victory and ninth overall.
Tallahassee managed only five hits on Friday - one each from Brown, Torres, Michael Arencibia, Graham Saiko and Nick Graganella.
Schedule update
Tallahassee has cancelled Saturday's 2 p.m. game against Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) Agricultural College.
Sunday's 2 p.m. doubleheader against St. Petersburg College is still scheduled to be played at Eagle Field.
