They fight so that what happened to them won't happen to others. Former foster youth rallying in the capitol with one goal in mind, to help those still stuck in the system. Florida Youth Shine was founded by Florida's Children First back in 2005 to ensure that the voices of youth are heard in public policy debates to improve child protection and foster care services.
They have been successful at getting legislation approved in the past and once again their work has paid off. With this year's legislative session coming to an end, Youth SHINE learned Tuesday that two more of their Bills have passed, one on Education and one relating to Records.
