Tallahassee, Florida (Press Release) --
The Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center (ASC) is trying to get 1,200 dogs and cats adopted from August 1 to October 31. Thanks to continued support from the community, the ASC met and exceeded its goal of finding homes for 400 cats and dogs by the end of the first month. In total for the month of August, 415 dogs and cats left the ASC with new families.
“We are proud that at the end of the first month of the adoption challenge we are on track to reach our overall target number,” said Erika Leckington, interim director at the ASC. “To encourage the community to stay involved and consider bringing a new pet into their homes, we are reducing the adoption fee to $20 for the entire month of September.”
In addition to reaching its 400 adoptions goal for August, the ASC also set a 10-year record for adoptions in one month. The previous record was 328 and was set September 2006.
