Tonight many supporters and contributors of the homeless shelter are expected to attend, as well as a guest speaker from The National Coalition for the Homeless in Washington D.C. There, he will recognize the Shelter's twenty years of service.
Riley Hayes, a guest at the Shelter says, "I've been here, uh, for about a year and a half. It's a home that, that they have problems in, and they understand and they'll let you stay a while."
Neal Pierce, the coordinator of the day center recalls one story saying, "One guy that, uh, had lost everything through a bad divorce and came here, found a job, saved his money, got an apartment, got a car, and got a better job."
The Shelter's 20 years of service have included everything from beds and blankets, to meals and showers. Today they provide lodging for nearly 150 homeless people each night.
