The American Red Cross needs volunteers for its disaster response teams in Thomas, Decatur, Grady, and Seminole counties.
Teams rotate on-call duties each week and if there is a disaster such as a fire or flood, the team on duty responds.
The Red Cross says volunteering brings people together from all walks of life.
Anyone over the age of 16 can volunteer their time.
Training for the disaster response team can be completed on different schedules and takes about 6 hours.
The Red Cross provides assistance to individuals and families affected by natural disasters.
For more information on volunteering, or to make a donation, visit redcross.org or call your local Red Cross chapter.
