All types of people were represented today at the 3rd Annual Gay Pride festival in Valdosta.
Established to promote unity, awareness, and understanding about the gay and transgender residents in south Georgia, the event is brings the community together for a fun-filled day of music, family, and food.

Vendors and visitors alike say they are happy to see an event like this in the Valdosta community.

One of the vendors present wasn't selling anything tangible - she was only trying to spread a message of understanding.

Elke Kennedy's son, Sean, was killed in an anti-gay hate crime over 3 years ago - and since that day, she has been fighting for the rights of all oppressed people through her foundation, "Sean's Last Wish".

Kennedy says, "The more we're out there to speak, I think the bigger difference I can make. The more seeds I can plant in people's hearts...because I believe that we have to change hearts and minds and attitudes...the law alone is not enough."

Festival coordinators say they are happy the event has grown to include people from everywhere - vendors came from as far as Augusta to add motion to the movement of understanding.

The Original Bob posted: "Isaiah 3:9 'The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.'" Luckily we know what the sin of Sodom was. Eze. 16:49-50: "Sodom's sins were pride, laziness, and gluttony, while the poor and needy suffered outside her door. She was proud and did loathsome things, so I wiped her out, as you have seen." The sin of the Sodomites rested not in who they loved, but rather in their lack of love for others. So those of you looking down your long religious noses at people who are loved by God and acting as if they are not good enough to be counted as equals in society, you suffer from the sin of Sodom. Mal 2 says, "For you have not obeyed me but have shown partiality in your interpretation of the law. Are we not all children of the same Father? Are we not all created by the same God? Then why are we faithless to each other...."

James 4:12 There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor? John 8:7 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” Romans 14:1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.

I am not gay, but I would truly love to be! God has blessed the gay community with extraordinary talents. Most gays I know are very good looking, smart, and classy christian people.

I will not be anyomous! I am the one who e-mailed WCTV and other media outlets asking for coverage. THANK YOU to Caroline Gonzmart for coming to the event and presenting an honest and positive report on the event. I am PROUD of the efforts of the event organizers and my fellow PFLAG members in Valdosta, Albany and Macon as well as a dear friend in Elke Kennedy, her husband and daughter and their Seans Last Wish foundation. I am proud of all of them and I am proud to be who I am. I dare those condemn me to my face. Not for anything other than to prove to you that I am worthy as all of my gay and lesbian brothers and sisters are worthy and respectful upstanding citizens. Some of us are christians, ALL of us are tax payers who live, work and go to school right alongside you in your communities and deserve the same respect and right to dignity. Gay pride in Valdosta has only just begun. Like Atlatnta, Savannah or anywhere. WE ARE EVERYWHERE! Get used to it and get over it.

Elizabeth Harbin, If you saw a child about to pick up a rattlesnake, would you stop it? Is it loving to be silent when you know a persons behavior, if unchecked, is going to send them to hell for eternity? Is that what you call love?

If God said homosexuality is bad he also said incest is good. Read Genesis Chapter 19 Verse 30-38. God said Lot and his family were the on "good" people in the wicked town of Sodom and Gomrorrah but Lot had sex with both his daugters. HUH? God said this was a good man? Does TheOrginalBob, being a "good" christian have sex with his daugters. I mean if we are going to quote the Bible here and try to live by it, let's not leave anything out.
