Grady County officials are breathing a sigh of relief after containing a leaking gas line on Hopkins Road off Lower Hawthorn Trail.

A Grady County employee was thrown from his tractor when he accidentally struck a natural gas line owned by Southern Gas Lines Co.

The worker was taken to the hospital, but released with only minor injuries.

Grady County officials say crews from the Sheriff's Office were on scene to prevent further mishaps during clean-up and repair.

Officials say the gas line was partially exposed due to erosion, and a worker driving a piece of machinery accidentally struck it.

When the pressure on the line was released, they say it caused a minor implosion, blew debris hundreds of yards, and bucked the tractor's driver.

The leak was repaired around 1 o'clock this afternoon and officials say service to customers was uninterrupted during the incident. .
