The Thomasville Federal Emergency Management Agency donated 45 electric fans to the Thomasville Red Cross to stock in its hurricane shelters.

Red Cross shelters will use the fans if they are called into action during a natural disaster.

The donation will save the Red Cross almost one thousand dollars.

During hurricane season, especially, Red Cross officials say they gladly welcome donations and are seeking disaster response volunteers in the community.

For more information on donating to the organization or volunteering in your area, visit redcross.org.

The Red Cross as well as Emergency Management personnel are equipped with power generators. Every Red Cross Disaster trailer is equipped with one in case power does go out.
