Tallahassee, Florida --
This Saturday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Messer Sports Complex North will be packed with fun-filled family activities at the fourth annual preseason Tackle Football Jamboree. The event is sponsored by the City’s Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Affairs Department (PRNA). Each Pee Wee, Intermediate and Junior team will play two mini-games.
In addition to the mini-games, attendees can participate in a 40-yard dash contest sponsored by Titus Academy, see how high they can climb on the rock wall, hop around in the bounce house, get a balloon sculpture made or listen to the sounds of the Leon High School Steel Band. The Southeastern Community Blood Mobile will also be on site, and the Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center will have an animal adoption booth set up.
This free event is made possible by PRNA, which runs the football program. This is the 54th year the City of Tallahassee has maintained a youth football program.
While the event and activities are free, PRNA is asking attendees to bring non-perishable and canned food items. The goal is to collect at least 540 pounds of food, all of which will be given to the Second Harvest of the Big Bend.
