Tallahassee and surrounding residents have made their choice on who's the best at helping them get fit.
The Tallahassee Sports Council announced "FIT" Awards Wednesday. "FIT" stands for Fitness, Inspiration and Training. Nearly 1,000 area residents voted online for the best personal trainer to the restaurant offering the healthiest menu options.
"FIT" awards were the kickoff to the Tallahassee Fitness Festival.
Brian Hickey, the Executive Director of Tallahassee Sports Council, said, "Personal fitness is so important to all of our lives. Tallahassee Sports Council has a focus on competitive sports, so obviously everything goes hand-in-hand. Fitness is so important to everyone."
The 10 FIT Awards winners are:
Serenity Instructor: Deborah McFatter
New Instructor: Randy Baez
High Impact Instructor: Sarah Mitchell
Dance Fitness Instructor: Sue Tucker (Zumba)
Best Targeted Body Instructor: Kristen Mosier (Fit & Functional)
Physical Therapist: Larry Johnson
Personal Trainer: Phil Amsellem (Elite Fitness)
Nutritionist: Lisa Trone Best
Healthy Menu: Hopkins Eatery
Overall Fitness Program: Boot Camps To Go
The Tallahassee Fitness Festival is a one-day opportunity to experience the latest exercise classes, home gym equipment and health and nutrition products. There will be more than 150 local and national vendors, who will conduct free health screenings, health and fitness information, and product samples. The festival is Saturday, January 26 at the Leon County Civic Center.
