Domestic Violence was the topic of discussion for many women in the area Saturday.
Valdosta women and children gathered at a domestic violence conference.
Guest speaker Dr. Tommy Snow from Atlanta talked about the intensity of this abuse. He says it's something that's very prevalent among church goers.
"Domestic violence affects almost everybody in the community. I was shocked about 4 weeks ago we had a conference in Macon and Dr. Tommy Snow spoke and said that most domestic violence victims are in the church. That was really shocking to me," said Elder Joyce Lewis , a conference organizer.
Dr. Snow says every 12 seconds a woman in the United States dies because of domestic violence.
