Smoke filled the air and the smell of ribs floated through south Georgia Saturday. It was all part of the 3rd annual "Charity Rib Cook Off" in Lake Park, Georgia.

12 teams competed in a rib cooking competition for the Alzheimer's Association at Lake Dog's Restaurant.

One team dressed up as the Flintstones, others in bikini t-shirts. Participants say it started as a fun day created for a serious cause.

"We did it for the Sheriff, Chief of Police. His wife was very ill and so the hospital bills being so much we decided to help and that's how it got started," said Linda Hogan, the event organizer.

All proceeds from the ribs sold and music will go to the Alzheimer's Association.

Last year this event raised about $10, 000 for the Sheriff's Boys Ranch in Lowndes County.
