As we approach the official winter months it's important to remember to protect your plants against those harsh temperatures. Tallahassee Nurseries says it's especially important with flowers, ferns, citrus trees and poinsettias.

Jason Rock, general manager at the nursery, said, "Any kind of house plant that you have on your porch is very susceptible to cold weather. It will get killed from a freeze, so move it inside or cover it up with that frost cloth."

If the proper precautions aren't taken the weather could have a damaging effect. Tallahassee Nurseries says radical drops in temperature can sometimes even kill large 20-year-old oak trees in our area.
