Declining Home Sales

It's not as bad for buyers, though on a large scale, the National Association of Realtors says for last year, sales fell by 13 percent and that's the biggest drop since 1982. Despite those dismal numbers, some local experts gave us a few reasons for home buyers and sellers to look up.

Matt Hale with the Remax Capital Group said, "It's really a great time to go in, especially with the new low interest rates. They don't get much lower than this so if you're a buyer, it's gotta be an exciting time."

Gary Bartlett, with Gary Bartlett Real Estate said, "There's a market reality that a lot of people seem to be overlooking right now and that is, properly priced homes still sell, even in Tallahassee and hiring a full time broker, agent to help you through that transaction is the first step in the right direction."

The National Realtors Association says it expects sales to improve in Spring, but critics are saying that will not happen this year. It's a buyers market now and Gary Bartlett says sellers might need to have some patience.
