The stage came alive as the members danced, stepped and sang their message of remembering the past and being united in the future.

"We no longer have a Harriett Tubman, we have a Barack, we have a Douglas L. Wilder and people that can take that ambition and passion and not only move the African American forward but move the whole country forward," says Dr. Rhonda Flanagan, the organizer of the Black History Month Performance Troupe.

The troupe is organized every year by their church, Family Worship and Praise Center Church in Tallahassee.

Flanagan says they have aspirations of bringing their performance to the national level and are currently pursuing options to do that.
