Rabies Alert from Leon County Animal Control

The man bitten is undergoing treatment and the dog will be quarantined for 45 days. Now, Leon County Animal Control is reminding people to vaccinate their pets against rabies. Leon County says pets need to be protected from common carriers of rabies such as raccoons, skunks, foxes, coyotes, and bats.

Richard Ziegler, direct of Leon County Animal Control said, "Where ever there's some sort of woods there can be wildlife there and they usually don't come out except at night, so you're less likely to see them, but they can be drawn out."

Leon County Animal Control advises people not to feed wildlife or leave food out for them to find near the community.
