The trail near Tom Brown Park currently has no safe way of crossing the hazardous railroad tracks which intersect the path. Tuesday night, enthusiastic residents were invited to discuss the proposed pedestrian crossing over the tracks. Bridge architects say the bridge will be about 26 feet high and will cost roughly 850-thousand dollars to build.
One architect, Bradley Touchstone said, "A lot of people have been using these trails for a long time and there's a real safety problem. It's hazardous to go across the railroad tracks and so this will offer that sort of vital connectivity between the two park systems."
Bridge planners say they hope to begin construction on the new bridge in January of 2009
