Staph Threat in Leon County

The department says it was asked by a local health provider to investigate 14 cases of staph. The investigation is currently underway and the health department knows who is at risk, saying the general public should not be worried. Officials will not release which facility the threat came from, but they say it is not Tallahassee Memorial Hospital or Capital Regional Medical Center.

Marjorie Kirsch, the health department's medical director, said they have not found anyone at fault. "We have no evidence that this provider has done anything wrong to cause this and at this point we're working as hard as we can to find answers."

The Leon County Health Department says it is in the process of contacting anyone who may be at risk.
