The City of Tallahassee is pulling for Darren Chiacchia, as supporters are hoping the famous rider will recover both physically and financially.
Mayor John Marks said, "Unfortunately we had this tragic event occur this year, so we want to continue to support for not only the Red Hills Horse Trials, but those individuals who have participated in that. In this case, Darren Chiacchia."
To help Chiacchia, a fundraiser at the W.C. Dover Farm in Havana has been arranged. With an array of exciting events planned -- the most anticipated will be an unprecedented riding performance by Robert Dover, a six time Olympia. Dover will be riding the well known horse, Windfall.
Event coordinators say Dover vowed not to put on the top hat and tail coat again after 2005, but on Wednesday, he will for Chiacchia. Equestrian officials say Chiacchia and his family face catastrophic expenses ahead and welcome the continuing outpour of support from the community.
