When a plane crashed at the intersection of Ocala Road and Tennessee Street, it was Deputy Kevin Shea who saved the pilot's life and given a Medal of Valor for his bravery. The Leon County Sheriff's Office says Shea was the first one on scene.
When he arrived he blocked traffic with his patrol car then approached the hazardous wreckage. Inside he found the pilot, Hale McCord, upside down with his seat belt strangling him. Thankfully Shea acted quickly, cutting the belt and saving McCord's life.
