Red Cross to Welcome New CEO

The Capital Chapter Red Cross says it looked long and hard around the nation for the right person for the job. You may remember the turmoil in our local Red Cross which was spurred by the firing of Emergency Management Director Chris Floyd. From that point, there were many disagreements as to the direction of the local Red Cross among leaders and volunteers.

Later, CEO Joseph Agostini, who fired Floyd, was let go as well. Now, the Capital Chapter says it will welcome David Chayer as the new CEO at the end of this month.

"We certainly wanted someone with management experience. Top of the list was Red Cross experience, fund raising ability, experience in disaster services and the candidate we have has experience in all of the above. So, we're really excited." said Jaimi Wacksman, a Capital Chapter Red Cross Board Chairwoman.

The Red Cross says Chayer has nine years experience with the Red Cross at the national level. And when he takes over we can expect a decision from Chayer on a replacement disaster services director as well.
