Firefighters say the competing is just for fun and the important part is helping those with muscular dystrophy. All week, the Tallahassee Fire Department will be around town collecting money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through "Fill the Boot." For many with M-D, they have seen how much filling the boot helps.
"The MDA has been a real strong thing. If it wasn't here, I wouldn't of had the opportunities to see people and talk to people that I have been able to and to find out more about my condition." said Ren Starling, who has been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. The Tallahassee Fire Department says if all you can give is change, then even that can go a long way.
