Oprah Draws Attention to Puppy Mills

On WCTV Thursday at 4:00 p.m., the Oprah Winfrey Show will be updating a segment calling attention to the poorly raised pets. Puppy mills are places were dogs are unlawfully bred and not given the proper care they need in early life. Puppies in the mills often grow up with many health problems.

"It's very important that they have love, they have nurturing, they have proper veterinary care, they have good food and nutrition, they're exercised. And none of that occurs in a puppy mill." said Sonya White, the Leon County Humane Society Executive Director.
