the Vietnam Memorial Wall is coming to Tallahassee--in some form. It's the smaller twin called the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall. The great reminder of the past sacrifices is 3/5 the scale of the memorial in Washington D.C.
Thursday night, local Vietnam Veterans began making plans to prepare for the Memorial Wall's week stay in Florida's capital city. Veterans say it will be placed on the peninsula on Lake Ella in November. "It's just a great opportunity for Tallahassee to have it for this length of time. Normally, they, uh, hit the ground running and it's set up then gone before a lot of people know about. So being extended over Veteran's Day and part of the Veteran's Day activities is going to be good for Tallahassee." said Rick Clevenger, President of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 96.
The Big Bend Vietnam Veterans need volunteers to help with the Vietnam Traveling Memorial. You can reach the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 96 at 850-224-8838 or Rick Clevenger at 850-545-1811
