He was best know for a routine--Seven Words You Can't Say on Television. The comedy world mourns the loss of comedian George Carlin, including one local comedian who once opened for Carlin many years ago. Joe West at Tallahassee's Comedy Zone says Carlin was a pioneer of comedy.

"He and Richard Pryor, you know, back in the mid 70's and into the early 80's--they basically are the ones that I think carried on their back, the live comedy business and got things going." said West.

George Carlin died Sunday at the age of 71. Since his death, many friends in the entertainment industry have paid tribute to his life. Jay Leno told people magazine, "If there was ever a comedian who was the voice of their generation, it was George Carlin."
