Alligator Point Residents Sticking Fay Out

Residents on the Big Bend coast are weathering the storm tonight -- Some folks in Alligator Point say they're used to being around water, but not like this. Despite some of Fay's worst--flooding roads and blowing rain into beach houses--Alligator Point is not inaccessible.

Tommy Sadler, was working during the storm for Franklin County. He said, "I've seen it worse, but I've seen it better too. There's not as much wind--just a lot of water."

Residents have been advised not to drive during this storm, but there have were a few people driving out in high winds and officials are telling people that they need to watch out for the power lines.

Some residents say they're braving the storm to look after their property--remembering what happened after Hurricane Dennis in 2005. Tom Perkins, who owns a home in Alligator Point said, "When I came down here, we had to come across by boat and I caught two looters in my house. That was twelve hours after Dennis hit." Now, during Fay, Alligator Point residents are keeping an eye out, but they're also catching a break when they can.
