Press Conference: Mayor Marks on Fay

The City of Tallahassee and its public works are speaking to residents about Fay and its lasting affects and city officials are asking residents to be patient.

Mayor John Marks says Fay has been extremely challenging for the Tallahassee community with waste water management at capacity and trees down along with power lines. With that--the mayor says utility crews are working 16 hour rotating shifts to bring power to those who are still with out. The city is hoping the rain will subdue to make its operations easier.

"Mother nature isn't always on our side and certainly under these circumstances we find that they aren't--that she isn't as cooperative as we want her to be. As soon as we began to get the numbers down, we have more rainfall."

The city says that it has handled more than 30,000 calls in its call center since Fay moved through the area.
