Hundreds came to Cairo to pay their final respects to Mac Crutchfield today. As they cope with his tragic drowning last week they are also remembering the life he lived.
12 year old Mac Crutchfield, now survived by his two parents and younger sister, is sorely missed. He died last Saturday when he fell into an overflowing dam in the Deer Lake subdivision. And no one will forget the heroic efforts of Steve Dickerson--the man who nearly died trying to save him.
Wednesday afternoon, Mac's funeral service was held in Cairo at the First Baptist Church at four o'clock. There, family attended, but also those who knew Mac as a boy scout and a swimmer.
Kevin Vaughn, an Assistant Scout Master in Mac's troop said, "We're just keeping the family in our prayers and the great troop master in the sky will be with us until we meet again, was our ending theme there at our troop meetings every week."
Terry Maul, Mac's Swim Coach said, "We have to remember all the best in Mac. He was a very good person. He made our practices more joyful and we're going to carry the best of Mac with us and remember him for a long time."
