Animal Match Making On-line
These days many folks are turning to the Internet to find the perfect mate. And now other species are getting in on the act too. With so many endangered species inbreeding, zoos across the globe will now diversify bloodlines through on line "stud books." Like many human matchmaking sites, the animal captivity database will include sex, age and weight.
The Tallahassee Museum says it already uses cyber space to find mates for its rare Red Fox. Mike Jones, a long time staff member with the museum said, "In their data, their individual data, it tells their blood lines, who their mother and father was. So it makes it easier to track families and make sure you aren't inbreeding your animals."
The museum has three red foxes including an alpha male whose profile is already part of the database.
