Homeowners in Killearn Acres say they are living in a flood zone, but the area is not listed as one. Tuesday night, neighbors got together to discuss their options because they cannot get flood insurance. Residents say they need action from the local government because nothing can be done to help in case of flood damage.
Eileen Rajotte, a Killearn Acres resident said, "The flooding issue in Killearn Acres has got to be addressed in soon because the way the hurricanes are coming, it's moving further and further up hill at this point and while I realize it does not affect the front part of Killearn Acres--it's going to very shortly."
Killearn Acres residents plan to approach the Leon County Commission to schedule a public hearing on their flood issues.
