Dog Killed While Under Vet Care

A Tallahassee woman is mourning the loss of her pet. The dog escaped while in the care of a local veterinarian and was hit by a car. More than a week ago, Suzanne Lex left her Shiba Inu named C.G. at the Novey Animal Hospital in Tallahassee.

The vet says the dog was kept outside in a fenced area, but somehow managed to climb the fence and get loose. Lex says she's upset by what happened, but is thankful the vet is doing everything she can to compensate her for her loss.

"We're not looking to put the blame on anybody, we would just like to know as much as we could about what had occurred. We were on vacation and we'd entrusted the dog in the care of the vet." said Lex.

The veterinarian says the facility's fence has been evaluated, and it's working to make the kennel as safe as possible for the patients. The owner of the dog is asking anyone who knows anything about this incident to call the TV station at (850) 893-6666.

We love Dr. Novey and her staff. We know our yellow lab Hunter is always well taken care of. Accidents happen to all of us.

It is amazing to me that 51% of the people think Obama will perform "Not So Well" and yet the overwhelming majority in Tallahassee voted for him. What is wrong with this country????

What an unfortunate accident. I know that Novey and her staff feel just awful about this and will do everything that they can to make sure that it doesn't happen again. I second "Sherry"'s suggestion: A good way to cure the heartache is to both give and receive: Visit the Animal Shelter and adopt a dog thats very life could depend on you walking in the door.

Shibas are escape artists. I can't leave mine in the yard; he will scale the fence or find the one board that is loose. They are amazingly agile. I think that anyone with kennels should look into overhangs that prevent the dog from getting purchase on the top of the fence and thus prevent them from escaping. There are a lot of dogs who learn how to scale fences, but they can't get past this.

Sorry about your dog. I love ALL animals. I just had to put down my 16 year old dog, 'BUDDY' a month ago. I know it hurts.I am sure the vet and staff would not have had it happen for anything.
