FSU Police Consider Charges in FSU Union Brawl

FSU Police are interviewing the last of witnesses in the student union who saw the fight between FSU football players and members of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.

Police have reported about 25 eyewitnesses who have come forward so far and there are one or two more they'll be speaking with Thursday morning. Investigators say they will most likely have a police report by Thursday, which is when the state attorney will begin filing formal charges.

Major Jim Russel with FSU police says there will be at least three students charged in the fight and he says it could be more than that. The investigation will ultimately decide which state statutes apply to this sort of crime. FSU police say they'll have the help of the state attorney in making those decisions.

Seems it's ALWAYS the football team's fault. Lord knows there are NO smart-mouthed, arrogant or wrong doers in the fraternity/sorority groups, huh? There's a LOT of donations from Fraternity members families & Alumni, so, no, THEY surely don't have any connections, right? FSU football team members just go aronund starting fights without ANY provocation? Sorry. I just think that there is a lot more to this that WILL NOT be told. Incidents in the past with Football team members has NO bearing in this case. This situation is different and has to be handled different. I think that Bobby Bowden did the best thing KNOWING that he probably would put the BIG HOMECOMING GAME at risk. NOT EVERY coach would do that. Most would have waited until the investigation was over and he HAD to do something. Those football players got punished where it hurt the MOST. Bobby didn't wait. He took action. Tough game. Tough decision. Tough loss.

Anonymous,go back and read FSU football history, I believe it was 3 or 4 years ago when the rape was covered up and FSU was warned if they ever done this again charges would be brought up. The guy raped his girl friend and WCTV covered this story in detail. The player had to wait until charges was dropped by advice of the administration. Rix parked in the handicapped zones on numerous occasions and had tickets reduced dramatically, not a jail type sentence or a one time thing, just a perk of being a football player. It's your type of attitude that promotes these thugs to continue bullying, breaking the law and having to face no punishment. Other students would have faced a lot more punishment or kicked out of school. This program promotes violence and coverups for law breakers. You may be confused or just turn your head at the serious nature of how much is allowed by this school.

Anon...A one game suspension is called lip service and nothing more.

Anonymous...OOOO...A one game suspension for making the school and his team look like like a fool, again...yeah, thats fair. Kinda like the cheating scandal...three games when any other non-football players would have been kicked out of school. You must be the only person who condones this type of behavior. Three suspensions in four weeks...yeah, he deserves to play!

First of all Bobby DIDN'T put it under the rug for saturday's game against BC "raw" He took action BEFORE the police come out with anything. So it looks to me that he clearly did NOT let them out the easy way. And Reed, apparently someone thinks he can only learn by his mistakes if he hasn't kicked him off the team yet. So next time..listen before you actually speak!

FSU student...We all know that the famed Bobby will put this under the rug as usual. Football players never get into trouble...I think it was Reed who has been suspended 3 times in 4 weeks and yet is still able to play...yeah, that shows personal responsibility. Bobby said that one of them came to him crying...he should have sent them packing. Time to bring back integrity and responsibility to the team and the school, which will not happen until Bobby is gone!

Bobby has already passed the sentence on his guys and the police are awaiting word from the great one. Ostrach Bowden, stick your head back in the ground and see, hear or speak no punishment as usual. Another tomahawk for the players who fought and free tickets to the other guys. How this program has not been on probation blows my mind. Footlocker, Dillards, Check thefts, breaking and entering, video freaks, rapist, drug dealers (Jan the kicker)drug users, traffic violators, the list goes on and on. It will amaze me if one and I mean just one year a player does not break the law. What's funny is this school has a criminology program, guess I thought is was for law enforcement not law breaking. Maybe if Crist gives them more money they can cut that department and have a behavior program for athletes.
