Although both Governor's Square and the Tallahassee Mall have seen a lot of traffic recently, financial experts say all those shoppers are still buying significantly less than in year's past.

Still, many residents say it's hard not to notice the constant flow of last minute shoppers. Ishmil Pair says he has noticed the crowds because he works right next to the Tallahassee Mall and goes there almost everyday for lunch. "The numbers have been pretty much accurate with what they were last year, with the amount of shoppers we have had here. So, it definitely shows that even though we are hurting in an economic time, it does show that it's not stopping shoppers from coming out and participating and helping out the stores." said Pair.

Some financial advisers say small retail markets like Tallahassee are faring better this holiday shopping season than larger markets like New York. They also highly advice shoppers to stay out of debt this holiday season as things could get worse before they get better.
