For the past two years, there has been the "Capital City Countdown," with last year's party being a huge success. 2008 was welcomed with a large crowd of revelers, confetti and a great fireworks display.
However, organizers say the celebration costs between $20,000 and $30,000 dollars to put on and this year the money is simply not there. Each year, the Challenger Learning Center is a key organizer of the "Capital City Countdown."
Michelle Personette, with the center said, "The Challenger Learning Center couldn't host the Capital City Countdown this year because of budget cuts and fiscal responsibility. The overhead is just so high on this event that we had to put our educational programming first."
To ring in 2009, a New Years Eve Gala will be held at the new Tallahassee Auto Museum. For more information about this event, click the convenient link below.
