Teachers At Sealey Elementary say children sent 150 letters and cards to troops in Kuwait. The officers say the support of the children help them through the long days and nights of being away from family and friends. As a token of their appreciation, the American Flag was sent to the kids, a gesture that has become a time-honored tradition.
Petty Officer First Class, Patrick Curley, who received the notes and cards in Kuwait from students at Sealey said, "To some this may not have seem like much of a treat, but if you could have seen the smiles and heard the words of appreciation and gratitude you would have known how big of a treat this was to these sailors."
Sealey Elementary says it plans to fly the flag and then place it on display inside the school.
